The origin of salt water taffy is surprisingly unclear, but popular tales indicate Atlantic cities, New Jersey, in the eighties. One story goes that a tide flooded a candy store owned by Joseph Fralinger, rendering his confection gooey. Trying to save his inventory, Fralinger allegedly shouted for assistance, and a nearby worker responded, stretchi
